“Bitter voter” of Elk Grove (Voice of the people, Jan. 4) is ashamed to be an American.
Was she not ashamed during the past eight years of the scandals, corruption and unethical behavior of the outgoing administration?
I was.
Should incoming President Bush and his administration behave as the Clinton administration has behaved, then there will be reason to be ashamed to be an American. Democrats and Republicans alike should then challenge him.
An honest difference over policy is appropriate.
Unfortunately too many Democrats have been willing to give the Clintons and the Clinton administration a pass for undermining the essence of what makes a democracy work–integrity.
Although some are unhappy with the result of the election, it was conducted under the rule of law in an imperfect but well-intentioneddemocracy.
To have done otherwise would have been a threat to democracy.
“Bitter voter” has missed the point about our objection to Clinton.
