A very special thank you to the two people who stopped during the morning rush hour to assist in the rescue of a little beagle dog running loose in traffic on North Cicero Avenue in Lincolnwood near the Edens Expressway ramp on Jan. 3. Our lives crossed for a brief moment in shared compassion.
Once the little guy was in my car, I noticed that a phone number was embossed on his collar–it was the family’s number, and I phoned from my car. I told them that I would drop the dog off at my veterinarian’s office, which was on my route to work. The little guy was picked up a short time later.
Another special thank you to the staff at the Animal Medical Center in Skokie, who always provide a loving haven to the strays I bring in.
