Bond was set at $1.5 million Friday for a 22-year-old South Side Chicago man charged in the beating death of his 6-month-old daughter.

Cook County Circuit Judge Neil Linehan set the bond for Diante Wiley of the 5200 block of South Marshfield Avenue. Wiley has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death Tuesday of Shemire Jones.

Assistant State’s Atty. Maureen Lynch told Linehan that Wiley threw the crying baby into a car seat in the family’s home, causing her to hit her head against a dresser. She said he then threw her on the bed before changing her diaper.

The baby’s mother, Latoya Jones, also has been charged with first-degree murder. She has not yet appeared for a bond hearing.
