A 25-year veteran of the economic development field will become the next president and chief executive officer of the Joliet/Will County Center for Economic Development.
The board of the not-for-profit CED selected John E. Greuling for the position, which has been vacant almost a year. Greuling previously worked for InterMountain RKH, a Denver-based consulting firm, helping clients select sites for location, expansion or consolidation.
He will start his new job March 1.
Greuling has also worked in Greensboro, N.C., where he helped get $142 million in federal funds for expanding the airport there so Federal Express would open a hub. The Will County economic group supports the construction of a third Chicago-area airport at Peotone.
“John’s experience with federal aviation officials and his knowledge of airport issues is an added plus,” Paul Pawlak, CED board chairman, said in a statement Friday.
“Will County’s economic success story was the most appealing aspect in my decision to accept the position with the CED, and I am confident that we will maintain Will County’s growth and the continued diversification of its economic base,” Greuling said.
