Adeline E. Maringer, 87, of Arlington Heights spent more than 40 years binding books in the Chicago area. Mrs. Maringer died Monday, Jan. 29, in her home. Raised in Chicago, Mrs. Maringer graduated from Schurz High School and began working in the book-binding industry. She worked for several Chicago printing companies, including Manz Printing. Before retiring in 1973, she worked at Uniform Printing in Elk Grove Village for more than 10 years. She moved to Arlington Heights in 1970 and over the years became a volunteer at Lutheran Home and Services for the Aged in Arlington Heights. Mrs. Maringer organized games and helped patients get to appointments in the facility. She also helped with the nursing home’s mailings. In 1988 she was named Volunteer of the Year by the Village of Arlington Heights. When she turned 70, she learned to play the organ. “She was a vibrant woman,” said her daughter Bernette Ryza. Other survivors include another daughter, Jackie O’Rilley; three sisters, Hattie Debs, Lorraine Tappa and Elsie Behm; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. A service will be at 11 a.m. Friday in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4939 W. Montrose Ave., Chicago.
