There is a simple way to settle the debate about whether we should have more high-stakes testing in the schools. Require all members of any legislature that passes a bill mandating a standardized school test to take that test themselves. Make the same requirement for any governor or president who signs such a bill. If they don’t pass, rule them out of office.
