A 17-year-old Chicago youth was being held Friday in lieu of $50,000 bail in Kane County Correctional Center after he was arrested Thursday for allegedly stealing two women’s purses in a church parking lot.
Maurice V. Matthews of the 2000 block of West Monroe Street was charged with robbery and aggravated robbery.
Matthews threatened the two women, ages 85 and 71, and took their purses when they got out of a car in the lot in the 300 block of East Downer Place, police said.
