Dr. Lyman Clark Rowley Jr., age 80, died peacefully in his sleep on Feb. 6, 2001, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Vancouver, WA. A native of Chicago, he had resided at the North Park Village Apartments on N. Pulaski Road, Chicago, prior to moving to Salem, OR in December of 2000. He is survived by his daughter, Diane P. Trevett-Sedoruk of Salem, OR; his granddaughter, Elizabeth Trevett-Cary and greatgranddaughter, Midori Trevett-Cary of Hillsboro, OR and grandson, James Trevett of St. Paul, MN. He is preceded by his wife, Elizabeth, nee Grunenberg, Rowley; his sister, Mable Eilering; and his grandson, Jeffrey Trevett. In addition, he is survived by his cousins, Anita, nee Buschick, Johnson of Miami, FL, Edwin Buschick of Mundelein, IL, Clifford Buschick of Bolingbrook, IL and Michael C. Buschick of Las Vegas, NV; numerous first cousins; his dear friend, Eleanor Andler of Evanston, IL; and an extended circle of friends. He served in the U.S. Army, 7th Corps., 294th Engineer Combat Division, and Medical Detachment during World War II as a Combat Medic. He participated in the Normandy Invasion, June 6, 1943, The St. Lou Breakthrough, the Sweep across Northern France, The Battle of Ardennes, The Battle of the Bulge and the capture of the first bridge across the Rhine River. He was the recipient of three overseas service bars, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with a Silver Battle Star, Good Conduct Medal and a World War II Victory Medal. He graduated from the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine in 1949 and located his private practice on Damen Ave. in Chicago’s North Center neighborhood. He is a Mason-a member of Constellation Edison Park Masonic Lodge #974; was president of the North Center Lions Club, Chicago and recipient of the Melvin Jones Service Award; a member of the American Legion Post #442, Evanston, IL and a member of the Shriners, Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, Medinah Temple, Chicago, from 1980-1997. Visitation Monday 11 a.m. until time of Masonic Service 12 noon, followed by Funeral Service at 1 p.m. at Donnellan Family Funeral Home, 10045 Skokie Blvd., at Old Orchard Rd., Skokie.
