Loretta J. Smutny, 67, a homemaker from Downers Grove Township and a past president of the Timberlake Women’s Club, died Friday, Feb. 9, in Hinsdale Hospital. Born in Chicago, Mrs. Smutny was a member of the Tuesday Morning Bowling League at Willowbrook Bowl and member of Timberlake Sunday Night Bowling League. An accomplished gardener, she also was an avid cook and her family’s genealogist. “She enjoyed the reflections of Upper Eau Claire [Wis.] Lake from the family’s North Woods home,” said her husband, Robert. Mrs. Smutny also was a member Rotary Anns of the Rotary Club of Darien. Other survivors include two sons, Glenn and Richard; a daughter, Karen; two grandchildren; two brothers, George and Robert Skudrna; a sister-in-law; and nieces and nephews. Services were held Monday.
