I admire Sam Shipp for holding his ground in spite of intimidation and pressure as the sole holdout juror in the Michael Ceriale trial. He voted his conscience–he did the right thing. In a similar situation, I broke down emotionally and gave in to coercive tactics on the part of other jurors. A young man went to prison–thankfully on a lesser charge than murder–because I didn’t have the strength to stand by my convictions.
