John Kass’ Feb. 20 column, “Missing the point just in time for Black History Month,” about the Carson Pirie Scott Black History Month ad, raises some good points.

But it misses two more important ones.

If Carson’s really wants to honor Black History Month, why don’t they offer “free” calendars that are actually free, instead of requiring people to make a $15 purchase in order to obtain one?

But far more important, when I see a major company that does something special to honor black history during a month that is not Black History Month, I’ll see a company that really means it.
