John W. Brooks, 51, of Palatine, was an account manager for Riscmanagement of Clearwater, Fla., a computer networking company, for the last two years. Before that, he was a regional sales manager for Minolta Business Systems in Wood Dale. Mr. Brooks, a Chicago native, died Sunday, March 4, in Northwest Community Hospital, Arlington Heights, of complications from cancer. He was a former Barrington resident. “John had many and varied hobbies,” said his sister Anne Marie Eunice. “He loved skiing, horseback riding, computers, photography and traveling. He traveled extensively around the country in his youth and later internationally for his company. He was an extremely intelligent man. He had many interests, but his top priority was love of family. His love of his mother, his daughters and his wife was incredible.” Other survivors include his wife, Barbara; two daughters, Faith Pollack and Megan; his mother, Anne; three brothers, Kenneth, Albert and Steve; and another sister, Kathy. A visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Highway, Palatine. Prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home, to be followed by a mass at 10 a.m. in St. Theresa Catholic Church, 467 N. Benton St., Palatine.
