“Hundreds will watch McVeigh die, Ashcroft approves closed-circuit TV” (Page 1, April 13) brings back the Middle Ages when the condemned were executed in public amidst a cheering crowd and festive picnics.
Although Turkmenistan, a country perceived as backward, abolished the death penalty about a year ago, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Syria, the Palestinian Authority and the United States conduct public executions. Something to be proud of America!
