The average workday starts at 9 o’clock in the morning, so why do middle schools and junior high schools have to start at 8 o’clock or even earlier? Students have to get up as early as 5:45 to barely make the bus. Most children don’t even eat breakfast because they don’t have the time.

Teachers give large amounts of homework, forcing their students to stay up late to finish it. Then teachers expect students to be wide awake in the morning and to be prepared to take tests and quizzes. Students can hardly concentrate that early in the morning.
