In a June 25 news story, it was reported that ethnic Albanians “make up about a third of [Macedonia’s] population . . . ” Don’t you think that by now the readers have wised up to media tricks? Whenever the media are in favor of a fighting faction, they immediately cite the percentage of that population, giving them instant legitimacy. The Catholic population in Northern Ireland, for instance, is never listed as a percentage but simply as a minority. The term “minority” diminishes legitimacy.
These tricks by the media are very underhanded and conspiratorial. The people behind such use of words are obviously not news reporters but planners with political agendas. How can one trust the news?
