Michael Campbell (who?) is threatening to boycott the New Zealand Open (what?) because ticket prices have soared as organizers bid to recoup $2 million in appearance money demanded by Tiger Woods.
Campbell, New Zealand’s top golfer since conquering the European Tour last year, was reported Wednesday to be disgusted over the $205 price of a weeklong spectator ticket, as was fellow Kiwi Greg Turner. Especially since a weeklong pass last year cost $20.50.
Turner said the suggested prices were a “gross insult” to local fans.
Campbell, who was among those instrumental in enticing Woods to play in New Zealand next January, said he’d pull out unless the ticket price is reduced.
“It is great that Tiger Woods is playing, but his presence should not mean young New Zealanders can’t go,” Campbell said.

James “Kash” Beauchamp resigned as manager of the Lincoln Saltdogs two days after he was charged with fighting with his girlfriend in a diner parking lot early Sunday morning and suspended by the Northern League.
Former Cubs pitcher Les Lancaster, who is also a starter for the Saltdogs, will serve as manager for the remainder of the season.
