Connie B. Ryan, 69, of Ocala, Fla., a former resident of Mt. Prospect and a retired bank teller, died Thursday, Aug. 2, while on vacation in Manila. Born in the Philippines, Mrs. Ryan immigrated to the U.S. in 1954. By the late 1950s, she had settled in Chicago and worked for several banks, including Harris Bank. After she retired in 1993, she moved to Ocala. “She was the reason why we are all here,” said her daughter Mercy, who added that after her mother settled in the U.S., she brought over the rest of her siblings from the Philippines. Other survivors include her husband, Jerome; another daughter, Melba Cargannilla; a brother, Antonio Bautista; two sisters, Belen Gaa and Estella Swing; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday in Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights. Prayers will be said at 10:15 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. A mass will follow at 11 a.m. in St. Emily Catholic Church, 1400 E. Central Rd., Mt. Prospect.
