In the Aug. 7 editorial “Should voters get a holiday?” the Tribune asks, “Do we really want our officials elected by people so disinterested that they have to be bribed?”
Actually that’s not a bad idea.
In carefully edited prose, the word “disinterested” usually means “unbiased” or “free of self-interest.”
How much better the country would be if that were the way we voted.
