It absolutely boggles my mind how the Cubs could decline to rehire Steve Stone (Tribune, Aug. 7). He has forgotten more baseball than Dave Otto or Joe Carter may ever know.
Otto and Carter treat us to a beginner’s level of baseball analysis. What the two of them and WGN do not realize is that after the 18 years of expert analysis that Stone has given us, we are very educated in the game. Stone loves the Cubs and loves Chicago. It would be a travesty if he went to another city and we had to listen to Otto and Carter for another whole season.
I understand contractual obligations, but if it weren’t for radio, I would be watching every game in silence. Please, Tribune Co., bring Steve Stone back and treat us Cubs fans with a level of respect we have become accustomed to.
