Just recently, the Chicago area was pounded by a freak rainstorm that deposited as much as 4 inches of rain in many areas. Twenty-four hours before the storm hit, local meteorologists forecast a possible quarter inch of precipitation for that day. As we’ve seen many times, they didn’t get it right.
But we are told that forecasters claim the world will go through a phase of global warming that might threaten the existence of mankind.
If meteorologists can’t tell us whether or not it’s going to rain tomorrow, how can scientists predict what will happen 20, 50 or 100 years from now?
I recently watched a documentary made in the late 1970s warning of a possible coming of another ice age. Need I say more?
Oh well. I’m planning a Labor Day picnic. Can anyone tell me what the weather is going to be like? Better yet, let’s flip a coin. Heads–cold and rainy. Tails–warm and sunny.
Heads–ice age. Tails–global warming.
