Alan G. Lafley, president and chief executive of Procter & Gamble Co., and E. Stanley O’Neal, president and chief operating officer of Merrill Lynch & Co., have been elected to General Motors board. O’Neal will join the board immediately; Lafley in January. The election brings the number of GM directors to 13, 11 of whom are from outside the company.
