I’m not sure which Aug. 21 editorial to believe. One editorial said that it was absurd to rank universities, whereas another editorial on the same page endorsed new chancellor Nancy Cantor’s plan to improve the U. of I.’s reputation on the national scene. Is the Tribune saying that the system’s insane, but that’s OK as long as it works to our benefit?
