I was dismayed after reading the U. of I. editorials. Most surveys and rankings that I have read rate the U. of I. as one of the top 10 public universities in the country and as one of the top 50 universities nationwide. The U. of I. is also renowned for its faculty and research programs. We are fortunate to have a world-class university right here in Illinois and doubly fortunate that deserving in-state students are not sacrificed for the sake of improving the school’s “reputation” by admitting more non-residents.
