Where has David Greising been? In his Aug. 17 column, he laudably supports Mayor Richard Daley’s runway plan for O’Hare International Airport (“No question, answers rigged on Ryan’s tour,” Business). But he goes on to suggest that United Airlines–the airline most vocally supporting the mayor’s plan to restore O’Hare as a pre-eminent transportation hub–does not believe all the runways in the mayor’s plan are needed.
I wonder if this is the same United Airlines that had three separate briefings with the transportation, business and political writers at the Tribune, underscoring our belief that Mayor Daley has delivered a bold plan that will restore Chicago as a world-class transportation hub?
I wonder if this is the same United Airlines that had employees volunteer to blanket the airport recently to raise consumer awareness of the critical need to create an O’Hare that works and asking O’Hare travelers to support the mayor’s plan?
I wonder if this is the same United Airlines that hosted a press conference on Aug. 15 with nearly 40 Chicago-based pilots from United’s Air Line Pilots Association in support of the mayor’s plan?
United’s support for the mayor’s plan to create an O’Hare that works for consumers and the airlines that operate there is unequivocal.
