“GROOVIN’ WITH GOLSON”
(ORIGINAL JAZZ CLASSICS)
Appearing Sunday night at the Chicago Jazz Festival, tenor saxophonist Benny Golson has been a wonderful player for at least 45 years. This aptly titled album, recorded in 1959, is one of his best. Full of Golson’s insinuating swing and the soft-shoe hipness of trombonist Curtis Fuller, it’s lifted to the skies by drummer Art Blakey, who is in galvanic form throughout.
