Michael “Mike” Tassio, 47, Sarasota, died in a work related accident August 13, 2001. He was born March 28, 1954, in Chicago and came to Sarasota in 1978 from Villa Park IL. He had been a line specialist with Florida Power Light since 1984. He was founder of the Hammer Fast-pitch Girls Softball Traveling Team, coach and board member of Miss Sarasota Softball and certified scuba diver. He was named Mr. Sarasota in 1983. He was a member of Church of the Palms-Presbyterian. Survivors include his wife, Ann Workinger; and his parents, Charles and Ann, of Villa Park, IL.; two daughters, Tiffany, of Jacksonville and Corin, of Tampa; two sisters, Karen Sum, of Carol Stream, IL., and Sharon Oltean, of Plainfield IL; and brother, Chuck, of Naperville, IL.
