Place: Arguably Chicago’s most fashionable corner–Oak and Rush Streets during summer’s hottest days. Was it the heat? Maybe. Maybe it’s Chicago. The average man’s attire was a golf shirt or T-shirt and khaki pants or khaki shorts. Get the picture? No matter the weather, some men went for it: Fashion, we mean. Hair: James Dean or Beatles hair, no hair, head scarves covering hair. Eyewear: Tinted sunglasses. Shoes: Slides, in leather or by Gucci. Noteworthy: Pajama shirts, cigarette pants, silver crosses, long-sleeved white shirts–not undone but untucked.
