Mildred L. Richter, 82, of Naperville, a former longtime resident of Warrenville, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, in Tabor Hills Health Care in Naperville. A Chicago native, Mrs. Richter moved to Naperville four years ago after living in Warrenville her entire life. “She lived in Warrenville when it was rural land, so she saw a lot of changes,” said her son, Paul. “Most of her family still lived in Chicago back then and it took them a whole day of travel just to come out and visit.” A dedicated homemaker, Mrs. Richter learned to sew from her mother at a young age. She made dozens of dresses and pieces of clothing for her children. “She rarely sewed for herself, but always made sure her family was well outfitted for every occasion,” her son said. Mrs. Richter was a devout Catholic. “She was always doing for others,” Richter said. “Her family and her faith were what mattered most to her.” Other survivors include two sons, George and Jonathan; two daughters, Lynn Carlson O’Connor and Pamela Murphy; a sister, Eleanor Gilstrap; 18 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday, in Leonard Memorial Home Ltd., 3S532 Batavia Rd., Warrenville. Mass will be said in St. Irene Catholic Church, 28W531 Warrenville Rd., Warrenville.
