The NFL and its players association will contribute a minimum of $5 million each to organizations aiding victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
The minimum contribution of $10 million, announced Thursday, will be placed in a special NFL-NFLPA Disaster Relief Fund.
NBA players are contributing more than $2 million to provide disaster relief to victims of the terrorist attacks.
The Mark McGwire Foundation for Children pledged $250,000 to support the victims’ children.
Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum–the Crown Prince of Dubai, the Minister of Defense of the United Arab Emirates and one of the world’s most prominent buyers, breeders and racers of thoroughbreds–pledged $5 million to a disaster relief fund organized by Keeneland race track in Lexington, Ky.
