Corinne Ann McLean Jadwin, 70, an X-ray technologist for 38 years at a clinic in the south suburbs, died Sunday, Sept. 23, in her Calumet City home of pulmonary illness. Born and raised in Joliet, she paid her way through a four-year course in X-ray technology at St. Joseph Health Centers and Hospital in Chicago. She worked for a short time at Passavant Hospital before moving with her husband to Calumet City. “She wanted to work to help people do things, and she figured this is one of the best ways of doing it,” said Riley, her husband of 47 years. After moving to a Calumet City in 1957, Mrs. Jadwin was looking at the X-ray equipment at Hammond Clinic while taking her daughter there for a doctor’s visit, prompting a staff member to ask about her interest. The clinic prevailed upon her for a week before she agreed to work there, her husband recalled. She worked as an X-ray technologist in the clinic–now in Munster, Ind.–until the 1990s. Mrs. Jadwin sang in the choir and served as an elder and deacon at the former Community Presbyterian Church of Calumet City. She later joined the First United Methodist Church of Lansing and served there as a liturgist and driver for Lansing Meals on Wheels. “She loved life,” said her daughter Pam Kortum, noting that her mother viewed her family as her greatest accomplishment. Other survivors include two other daughters, Amy Wright and Tressa Langolf; a son, Gavin; a sister, Kathryn Dempsey; and six grandchildren. A service was held Thursday in Lansing.
