What a wonderful sight, all the American flags I see flying everywhere.
They are on the front of homes and businesses, on cars and I even saw one on the mast of a sailboat out on Lake Michigan.
I don’t recall ever seeing so many flags, even on holidays.
I also enjoy all the messages on business billboards.
People are wearing a lot of red, white and blue.
There is such a feeling of patriotism in the air. Conversations seem to be more civil as we share our feelings and stories with each other about the attacks.
Suddenly Americans seem united, sharing a common bond. Only a few have gone beyond good taste to threaten citizens they perceive as a threat.
Perhaps the enemy thought he could shut down this country or divide and weaken us, but instead this tragedy has brought us close together.
As time goes by and wounds heal, let us not forget this pride in our country. Keep flying those flags and sharing the American dream.
