The event: Opening of Orange Skin, a new “lifestyle” home furnishings store in Bucktown. The name: In keeping with the erudite branding concept that a name unassociated with a particular product or store generates . . . curiosity. Principals: Architects Giuseppe Cerasoli and Obi Nwazota. (Obi is known for creating/designing restaurants, boutiques, boites and the like). The crowd: Extremely trendy, hyper fashionable, lots of single people with single names. Surprise guest: Derrick May, one of the creators of the craze called “techno music.” Originally from Detroit. Obi’s next venture: “Wherever there is a void.”
