Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

What sort of mishaps do you have to deal with on the road?

We were in San Antonio and the [cleaner] must have used hot water or bleach on the jerseys. It turned the stitching pink. The guys kept saying, ‘I’m not wearing a pink jersey.’ We ended up wearing black jerseys instead. Another time we were in New Jersey, and Dickie Simpkins got blood or something on his jersey. When we switched it [for a new one] the only other jersey I had, had his name spelled wrong. He went out on the court with “Smipkins” on the back.

Anything memorable ever happen to you?

One time, we were leaving the King Dome [in Seattle] and there were a lot of people there with little security. People were all pushing and we’re trying to get on the bus and I lost a shoe. I couldn’t bend down to get it because I would have been trampled. I had to go all the way to Denver with one shoe.

Who are the tidiest players?

There are some guys that are total slobs and there are guys who, I wouldn’t call them anal, but everything is always folded and in proper order. Will Perdue and B.J. Armstrong were always very neat.

Who are the sloppiest?

Oh, there are some. But it’s not fair to say who. I do get on them though . . . not that it does any good.
