The U.S. soccer team visited Panmunjom, on the border between the two Koreas on Friday, two days before playing an exhibition game against South Korea.
North Korean border guards followed the players’ every move with binoculars.
“It’s really strange and it’s bizarre,” defender Pablo Mastroeni said. “It felt like you are in a movie.”
Only it’s Panmunjom, where 89 American sevicemen have died since an armistice was signed in 1953 to end the Korean War.
Chair men
Michigan Gov. John Engler and North Dakota Gov. John Hoeven are betting chairs on the outcome of Saturday’s NCAA Division II title game between Grand Valley State and North Dakota.
If Grand Valley wins, Engler gets a rocker with a UND logo. If it loses, Hoeven gets a Herman Miller $700 Aeron chair with the GVSU emblem.
