Mae J. Kidd, 99, a former resident of Barrington, died Monday, Dec. 24, in Wynscape Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wheaton. Born in Bloomington, Ill., Mrs. Kidd was raised on a farm near Marshfield, Wis., then moved to Milwaukee, where she worked as a housekeeper. By the mid-1920s, Mrs. Kidd was in Chicago, where she met her late husband, William Kidd Sr., whom she married in 1927. She was a homemaker who in her 60s went to work in a bakery in Chicago. After she moved to Barrington in the 1970s, she worked in a bakery there until she retired a few years later. “She was always a hard worker,” said her daughter-in-law, Jane Kidd. Mrs. Kidd sewed her own clothes and worked in the garden, her daughter-in-law said. Other survivors include three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday in Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St., Barrington. Services will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
