Edith L. Driscoll, age 93, was born March 18, 1908 on the family farm in Rutland, IL, the third of ten children of Frank and Josephine, nee Mernitz, Oldenburg. Edith graduated nurse’s training in 1931 at Evangelical Hospital of Chicago, where she met Dr. Robert E. Driscoll. The two were married in 1943. During WWII Edith did hospital work alongside her husband, who was in the service. After the war, they settled in Chicago Lawn and had two sons. After many years, Edith retired as Nurse Supervisor of the Obstetrical Department at Evangelical Hospital. She devoted her later years to her family. Edith was preceded in death by her husband, the late Robert E. Driscoll; one son, the late Robert E. Driscoll II; one grandson, Robert E. Driscoll III; one sister, Esther Uphoff; and three brothers, Robert, Carl and Walter Oldenburg. Edith is survived by one son, Thomas (fiancee, Alice Jaremek) Driscoll; one grandson, Paul Driscoll; four sisters, Ruth Oldenburg, Lucille Oldenburg, Leora (Merle) Sullivan and Lillian (Dean) Janssen; and one brother, Arthur (Rosemary) Oldenburg; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation Sunday 3 to 8 p.m. at Egan Funeral Home, 3700 W. 63rd St., where Funeral Services will be held Monday 12 noon. Interment Mount Hope Cemetery.
