Stephen Franklin did a good job reporting on the human point of view in the vexing phenomenon called checkpoints (“Checkpoints vex life, Arabs say,” News, Feb. 6).
The genuine frustration and hardships felt by Palestinians passing through those checkpoints is telling.
On Feb. 6, Israeli troops stopped a Palestinian truck at a surprise roadblock at 3 a.m. and found eight ready-to-fire Kassam-2 missiles and launchers.
According to Israeli radio, the missiles were hidden beneath a cargo of fruits and vegetables.
Regrettably, this is a painful reminder for the reason those checkpoints exist in the first place.
The lives of many were undoubtedly saved by this roadblock.
