Stephen Edward Kelly, Nov. 15, 1930 – Feb. 11, 2002, youngest son of the late Mayor Edward J. and Margaret Kelly, lost a courageous two year battle with cancer on Monday, Feb. 11. After graduating from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, Steve served in the Air Force. His professional career included positions as Assistant Director Special Events for the City of Chicago and Public Information Office for the Chicago Park District from where he retired in 1997. Steve was predeceased by twin siblings, Joseph M. and Patricia A. Kelly. He is survived by loving wife, Lucy Ann, nee Sheehy, Kelly; daughter Maggie (Michael) Crane; grandchildren Michael, Tommy, William, Jimmy and Jack Crane; nephews Michael and Peter and niece Patricia Kelly; many sisters- and brothers-in-law; as well as other nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home at 544 W. 31st St. and a Memorial Mass will be held at Holy Name Cathedral on Friday at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Maryville City of Youth, 1150 N.
