Mariah Carey’s rendition of our national anthem at the Super Bowl was a disgraceful insult to a great and revered piece of music. “The Star-Spangled Banner” is not a piece of pop music subject to interpretation. It is a spirited hymn to the spirit of a great country. It deserves better.
