Charles Chambers Jr. questions hunting as animal management, then goes on to imply that it is better for animals to be hit by vehicles than to be hunted. When a responsible hunter wounds an animal, he pursues the animal to kill it as soon as possible. When an animal gets hit by a vehicle, humans often get injured, even killed, but the animal, though wounded, often escapes to die slowly and painfully.

Humans are part of nature; the balance of nature requires predators and prey. Because humans have eliminated most predators, we have a responsibility to assume that role.
