Ruth M. Peterson, 85, died Wednesday, February 27, 2002 at Provena Convenant Medical Center in Urbana. Survivors include three daughters, Nanci (John) Behrendt of Fox River Grove, IL, Irene (Joseph) Reznok of St. Charles, MO and Flora (Chris) Filler of Champaign; seven grandchildren, David Behrendt, Douglas (Judy) Behrendt, Diane (John) Kunter, Eric (Theresa) Reznok, Keith (Dia) Reznok, Jenny Reznok and Paul Filler; eight great-granchildren. She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Wayne Reznok; and one great-grandson, John Alfred Kunter. Ruth was born April 13, 1916 in Vastras, Sweden, the daughter of Sven and Elvira Nonnen Ostlund. She married Alfred Peterson on August 15, 1936, in Chicago. He preceded her in death in September, 1975. Ruth was a homemaker and a member of AARP, St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Antioch, St. Stephen’s Bible Study, Antioch Sing-along Band, Antioch Senior Center and IOGT for 25 years. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2002, at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, 1155 Hillside Avenue in Antioch, IL. Pastor Roger Black will officiate. There will be a luncheon following the service in the church fellowship hall. Burial will take place at Ridgewood Cemetery at Central and Milwaukee Avenue in Des Plaines, IL. Visitation will be just prior to the memorial service. Memorials can be made to the Antioch Senior Center, 817 Holbek Dr., Antioch, IL 60002. Owens Funeral Home, 101 North Elm St. in Champaign is in charge of the arrangements.
