Two men were shot and killed early Saturday after leaving a party on the West Side, and a bystander was wounded by a stray bullet, police said.
Chicago police spokeswoman Laura Kubiak said Saturday evening that police were still trying to notify the families of the dead men and declined to release their names.
According to police, the two men, ages 20 and 21, left a party in the 2100 block of West 18th Place at 2:16 a.m. Saturday and were accosted by people on the street. One fired numerous shots at the two men, striking them and a 20-year-old man who was walking in the area.
The victims were pronounced dead shortly after 4 a.m. at the Stein Institute, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. The passerby was treated at Mt. Sinai Hospital and released, a nursing supervisor said.
Police said they don’t know a motive for the shooting, but they are following a number of leads.
