William J. McCormick, 76, of Lawrence, KS, born October 25, 1925, in Cicero, IL, the son of William Joseph, Sr. and Jennie Bartosek McCormick. He was a Veteran of World War II and the U.S. Navy and served in the South Pacific. He is survived by: one daughter, Melissa McCormick-Noonen of Lawrence, KS; one son, Jay McCormick of Louisville, KY; one sister, Joan McCormick of Brookfield, IL; a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. McCormick was a mechanical engineer for Western Electric in Omaha, NE, for many years and retired in the late 1980’s. Parish Rosary will be at 7 p.m., Friday, April 5, 2002, at the Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 6, 2002, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Lawrence. The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association, and may be sent in care of the mortuary. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Dorsey-Liberty Post #14, American Legion.
