A recent computer glitch wiped out patron and material information at both Naperville Public Libraries.
Mark West, deputy director for the libraries, said the hardware failure deleted information such as patron records, books on hold, incorrect titles, fines, fees and lost items. It also may have affected information regarding the status of circulating items.
Library staffers are manually clearing items from patron accounts and cross-checking records back to the first week of April. They also are overriding any fines that may appear on an account as a result of the system failure, West said.
