Paul Malcolm Schulz, 62, a longtime resident of Hinsdale and president and chief executive officer of a Bedford Park forklift dealership, died Saturday, May 4, in his summer home in Lake Geneva. Mr. Schulz was born in Oak Park, and as a young boy his family moved to Clarendon Hills. He graduated from Hinsdale Central High School in 1957. He studied business at Bradley University in Peoria. After graduating from college, he entered the forklift industry. Mr. Schulz began working with Clark Equipment as a salesman, became the sales manager and bought a franchise of the company in 1976. Mr. Schulz later began selling Toyota industrial trucks and in 1991 changed the name of his business from Clarklift of Chicago South to First Access. Mr. Schulz lived in Hinsdale since 1970 and married his wife, Linda, in 1978. “He was a very determined man who was focused on his company and job. But he also had a quick sense of humor and was very outgoing, which you need in his line of business,” his wife said. His determination resulted in several Dealer Excellence Awards from both Clark and Toyota. Mr. Schulz was a past president of the Clark Equipment Dealer Council and the Toyota Dealer Council. Other survivors include a daughter, Alison, and a brother, Ralph. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Elliston Funeral Home, 1st and Grant Streets, Hinsdale, followed by services at 1 p.m.
