A committee of aldermen and trustees of the Park Ridge Public Library has recommended that the City Council lend the library board $350,000 to study building a new library.
The joint committee supports a new library building but stopped short of recommending how large it should be. Panel members said it should include underground parking and be located on the site of the current library, which is bordered by Prospect, Touhy and Summit Avenues.
The City Council is expected to vote on the loan at its May 20 meeting. The loan would fund a site and soil analysis, designs, renderings and a model of a library, and detailed cost estimates.
