Molly Ivins makes me realize that the Democratic Party operatives in the news media are essentially name-callers who have no valid positions on any issue of substance.
All they really care about is being in control, and they are currently upset that they are not in control.
So we have the name-calling.
Molly “The Mouthpiece” Ivins’ column “If they only had a little bit of common sense” (Commentary, May 2) contains a sample of the pointless and uninspired drivel she authors:
“Sometimes I forget how truly simpleminded the Bushies can be,” “the attorney general has so amply demonstrated his clueless incompetence,” Ashcroft is a “dangerous nincompoop,” members of the Bush administration are “simple” and Ashcroft is a “bugbear.”
(Maybe Molly should get off the farm for a couple of days; the only people who use terms like “bugbear” are nincompoops.)
She goes on to ramble about the environment and the war on terror–who would have known there was a link?
Her column is like a train wreck; you know you shouldn’t look, but you have to.
Perhaps this is why you run this uninformed, uninspired and mind-numbingly bad column. The least you should do is charge the Democratic Party for the ad space.
