The flat, simple facade of greenish flagstone of this four-story rowhouse at 9 E. Goethe St. (entrance on right) recalls the Chicago cityscape of 1886 when the home was built. But there’s a rustic feel to two of the rooms inside this recently renovated Gold Coast home. The family room is paneled with cedar and, with its fireplace (one of five in the home), has the ambience of a farmhouse living room or even a mountain cabin. In the kitchen, the theme continues. There’s a deep, white farmer’s sink as well as cabinetry of reddish wood and butcher-block counter tops. The seven other rooms have a more contemporary feel. BY THE NUMBERS: Five bedrooms, two full bathrooms, two half baths, two small gardens, one sauna, no garage. The current owners are offering to pay for one parking space nearby for two years. Broker: Sudler/Beliard Gordon (Catherine Fay).
