Flowers spread joy wherever and whenever they appear. Last week I brought my daughter home from Northwestern Memorial Hospital after a liver transplant.
On the drive down Michigan Avenue, the explosion of color manifested by tulips bordering the street for block after block lifted her spirits and complemented her feeling of having just gained a new life.
Our thanks to Mayor Richard M. Daley. Surely many, many other people have had their day made better by this wonderful display.
