Unfortunately, I think that the bad news for baseball’s attendance is only beginning, and it is due to more than just the strike (“Attendance dip far from a blip; Major leagues still paying for strike of 1994,” Sports, May 7).
Talk to anyone under 20 and you are likely to learn that he or she cares little about baseball. Whether the result of the baseball strike, late starts of playoff games or failing to meet competition from an increasing number of diversions, baseball’s contraction is only beginning an irrevocable slide into a minor attraction.
